Nivel de conocimiento de madres primigestas en el cuidado del recién nacido del centro de salud Santa María del Valle – Huánuco 2014

Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de las madres primigestas en el cuidado del recién nacido.
Métodos: Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo simple con 50 madres primigestas del Centro de Salud Santa María del Valle – Huánuco 2014. Se empleó un cuestionario de conocimiento. En el análisis inferencial de los resultados se utilizó la Prueba Chi cuadrada para una muestra.
Resultados: El 58,0% (29 madres) alcanzaron un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre el cuidado del recién nacido. Por otro lado, predominó un nivel de conocimiento alto en el cuidado de los ojos, boca, nariz, oído, uñas (44,0%), vestimenta (64,0%) y signos de alarma (76,0%), también prevaleció un nivel de conocimiento medio en el cuidado del cordón umbilical (52,0%), cuidado perineal (64,0%) y eliminación vesical e intestinal (58,0%) y sobresalió un nivel de conocimiento bajo en el cuidado sobre el baño (52,0%) y sueño del recién nacido (78,0%); todas fueron significativas estadísticamente con P≤0,05.
Conclusiones: Existe predominio del nivel de conocimiento medio en el cuidado del recién nacido de las madres primigestas.
